I welcome Joe Lalonde to Session 4 of Making Business Happen Radio. Joe is a leadership expert, church youth leader, and community leader for Michael Hyatt’s extremely successful blog. Joe and I discussed a great post on his own site from June 2012 highlighting three qualities of a successful leader. We covered the following topics.

  • Why is it so difficult for people to delegate?
  • How can leaders make sure they focus on what they are doing best?
  • How can we make sure we work in our strengths more effectively?
  • Why do leaders need great relationships to succeed?
  • How can you build an effective community?
  • What is it like as a community leader for Michael Hyatt’s tribe?

This is an insightful interview from a young leader with much to share with us about making your business happen!

Delegating is so important as a leader, especially a church leader. It allows a leader to focus and stay in their core responsibility’s.

Thanks for the comment! You are absolutely right, Dan. I know my church is experiencing this as they find a new associate pastor. They are looking for someone who can take on more of the day-to-day responsibilities from the senior pastor. Our senior pastor is brilliant, and he’s a nationally recognized writer and speaker. He’s been at our church for over 15 years, so he can make a huge difference with his books and speaking.

I’ve fallen into the trap of “it won’t get done unless I do it”, and I have to stop that. I need to work where I enjoy things the most AND are most effective.

        Dallon,

Your welcome. I’m looking forward to learning from you even more.

I also have fallen into that trap. Luckily I have learned the importance of delegating. I have a blog post on the topic of delegating coming out on Wednesday. It’s so essential for leaders to find and then place people into different roles of responsibility.

        Who is your Pastor?

Peter Marty, senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.
